We’re not super duper into holidays, generally speaking. They’re fun, but we’re busy, and a good many of them (I’m looking at you, Mother’s/Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day) are largely an excuse to sell people bunches of extra STUFF. You know the drill.
But I love fireworks on the fourth of July, jack-o-lanterns and costumes and candy on Halloween, FOOD on Thanksgiving, and presents and celebration at Christmas.
Last week we loaded boys, family, chairs and a cooler in the van and drove up the street to watch the fireworks over Las Colinas. We waited for 40 minutes past the start time, and decided to drive down to the city proper to see if anything was going on. Sure enough, as soon as we got 1/2 mile down the street the fireworks started, so we pulled into a golf course’s parking lot and sat down on the grass. Eric was worn out, but Benny thoroughly enjoyed the fireworks. “Bang! Bang! Oooooooh, shiny!”
