NaNo Day 30 aaaaand done.

November 30, 2011

14k words in 13 hours? LET’S DO IT. #SeriousFace

  • 10:52am: Well, 899 more today. Wordcount 35,890
  • 1:16pm: 950 more = 36,840.  This is not going as well as I’d hoped.
  • 2:18pm: 1848 more = 38,688. It’s sort of cheating, because I’m copy-pasting segments from old blog entries. But it’s not, because I’m actually going to include them. Up until now, everything’s been original-writ.  I’M NOT DEFENSIVE, YOU’RE DEFENSIVE!!!
  • 8:53pm: 40,150
  • 9:15: 41,088
  • 9:44: 41, 922
  • 10:38: 44,400.  Again, cheating by using blog posts. I was going to do this anyway, but it is officially cheating, by NaNo rules.

So, 5,600 words to go, 1 hour left. I’m calling it, kids…no NaNoWriMo win for me this year.

BUT…

I wrote about 41,000 words (omitting the ~3k blog cut-and-pastes) in 30 days. What’s more, I wrote 13,000 of those words in UNDER TWO DAYS (7k yesterday, 6k today).

The bad: I hit my stride way too late to reach 50k.

The good: I broke back into non-technical writing, generated over 40,000 words of a new book, took part in something creative and awesome, and set myself up for a wonderful year of Making Stuff and Doing Things.

And also, I get to go watch Mythbusters now. Seeya!!

Congratulations that is awesome! And you know what? You took on the challenge of writing a novel in a month and didn’t give up on it, and that’s a hella big win. 🙂
