Boston Marathon – for my memory

April 19, 2013

The Boston Marathon was bombed this week. Three people died, and a whole bunch lost limbs. The casualty count is much smaller, but all of us are thinking of 9/11.

This week has been a lot of speculation and jumping the gun, and a lot of folks guarding against false news reports.

The FBI released photos of the suspects, and the Internet blew up trying to identify them.

Today they’ve found the suspects. They were apparently trying to bomb MIT too, and one of them got shot. Now Boston is on lockdown. This is insane. Worry.

Edit: What I really want to explain, though it’s difficult, is the feeling that the entire nation watching this waiting for it to go down. It’s not strictly accurate, but it’s not that inaccurate either. I walked into the lobby of the office where I’m working, looked at the receptionist and said, have they got him yet? And she said no. She knew exactly what I meant. Almost anyone I run into also would.
